ACADEMIC POSITIONS:Phillip Pearl, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics, Neurology, and Music and Director of Medical Student Education (Neurology) at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and Division Chief of Child Neurology at Childrens National Medical Center.
EDUCATION:
BA (honors), 1980 Natural Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD
MD, 1984 Medicine, University of Maryland, Baltimore, MD
He took his residencies in pediatrics and pediatric neurology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Boston Childrens Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
MEMBERSHIPS/AWARDS:
Dr Pearl is a scholar in the Master Teacher Program in Medical Education and received a certificate in Leadership Development from the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the George Washington University.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Pearls research interests are pediatric neurotransmitter disorders and epilepsy, and he serves as an investigator in protocols at Childrens National Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health associated with epilepsy and neurometabolic disease, specifically SSADH deficiency. Dr Pearl has published more than 65 manuscripts and 40 chapters in the area of child neurology.
