Jihui Ren
School of Medicine, Department of Cell & Developmental Biology, The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA F1000 Associate Faculty Member (since 02 June 2010)BIOGRAPHY
Jihui Ren is an Associate Faculty Member who works with Faculty Member Vytas Bankaitis to recommend the scientific literature in their field.
Jihui Ren also has responsibility for checking the contents of the following journals to ensure that the highest quality research relevant to their own interests within these publications is comprehensively and systematically evaluated for F1000:- Nature Cell Biology
- Journal of Cell Biology
ACADEMIC POSITION:
Postdoc, Department of Cell & Developmental Biology
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Jihui Ren works in the Bankaitis laboratory which is interested in the regulatory interfaces between novel lipid-mediated signal transduction pathways and important cellular functions. The focus of their work is the phosphatidylinositol/phosphatidylcholine transfer proteins (PITPs), a ubiquitous but enigmatic class of proteins. Ongoing projects in the laboratory derive from a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses biochemical characterization of novel members of the metazoan PITP family, and the application of genetic, molecular and biophysical approaches to detailed structural and functional analyses of PITPs. The laboratory breaks down into two groups: a group that studies the mechanism of function of yeast PITPs, and a group that generates knockout mice and analyzes the function of specific PITP isoforms in the mammal.
