Article Rankings

When Faculty Members recommend articles for F1000, they rate them as 'Good', 'Very Good' or 'Exceptional' (equivalent to scores of 1, 2 or 3 stars, respectively). F1000 uses these individual ratings to calculate the average star rating for each individual article, as well as the total star rating (both of which are displayed next to a recommended article), which we use to rank the articles in each Faculty.
Using the total number of stars, we calculate All Time Top 10s and Current Top 10s, which list the highest-ranked articles in each Faculty. Current Top 10 lists are compiled daily and include articles recommended within the preceding 14 days. Hidden Jewels lists only include articles published in the more specialized journals that you might have missed in your general reading. To find other top-ranking articles in your specialty, filter Article Recommendations by total score.
And if you want to see the articles in F1000 that your peers are reading, go to All Time Most Viewed and Current Most Viewed.
COMING SOON:
ARTICLE SUBMISSION ADVISOR

After consultation with our International Advisory Board and others we have decided to replace our published listings of journal rankings with a set of new user tools that will enable our subscribers to interrogate our data in interesting and practical ways. Read more »
The first of these user tools will be F1000Prime's Article Submission Advisor
Upload the title and abstract of your unpublished article and F1000Prime's Article Submission Advisor will:
- Automatically tag it to the F1000Prime Section(s) that most closely reflect its content
- Propose a ranked list of journals to which you should consider submitting your article
This journal list is computed by identifying those journals that published F1000Prime-recommended articles with similar tagging to your own.
The Article Submission Advisor is particularly useful in specialized disciplines, as it reveals journals whose 'impact factor' may not approach those of familiar, broad-spectrum journals, but that have nevertheless published articles recognized as important in their field by our Faculty. Tap in to their experience through the Article Submission Advisor to save time and effort in deciding where to submit your new article.
Watch this space for upcoming announcements about additional subscriber tools that will deliver research-specific and practical information about journals, institutes and funding bodies for our users.
